This city lost a great chef on Sunday morning at 6:30am. Chef Nicolas Klontz. Owner/Chef for Zin American Bistro (opened 3 yrs) & Zini Med Cafe (opened a month ago). He was the boyfriend of my friend Mindy Reed who also owns those restaurants with him. They have been together for 7 years. She was a single parent of two teenage boys when she met Nick. They were perfect for each other. They were great business partners as well. They got each other.
He hadnt been feeling well for about a week and stubborn as he was he didnt want to go to the Dr's but Mindy made him go. She took him to the hospital on Monday the 20th. They found out his entire body with ridden with cancer. He died Sunday the 26th. No warning, no notice just the way he would have wanted it. He was 60.
Nicolas you will be missed dearly.
